Our next meetup: Sunday 28th September / 930am / MUGS

Because grown men need friends too

Folkestone Fellas is a community for men in Folkestone and the surrounding areas to make new friends. Making meaningful new friendships as a grown man isn't easy - and with loneliness becoming a real epidemic in our modern world, the impact of this reality on the mental health of men is real.Whether you want to hang out in on whatsapp community, or join us for our in person meetups - we hope Folkestone Fellas can be a place for you to find your people.

Our Principles

We exist to tackle men’s loneliness and social atrophy. Every decision we make must serve this mission and the connection, belonging, and community required to support it. In order to make these decisions, we need a set of principles that allow us to protect the sanctity of Fellas - and to make any decision making transparent and fair.👬 Fellas Comes First
When dilemmas arise, we will always ask first and foremost: Does this serve the mission of connection and belonging for the group as a whole? Although we care deeply about supporting the individual, the health and safety of the group must come first.
🌍 Everyone Welcome, No-one Harmed
All men - of any age, race, sexuality, background, or belief - are welcome at Fellas. But that welcome is not unconditional: speech or behaviour that undermines belonging, dignity, or safety for others in the group will simply not be tolerated.
For People, Not Politics
This is not a place for party politics, ideological debate, or culture-war arguments. We welcome with open arms your lived experiences - but your ideological positions are not. We want to connect as people, in ways that bring us closer together, over political positions, which almost always divide.

Things for you to know

🧠 Our meetups are not a replacement for therapy.
We’re proud of creating a space where men can come along and talk openly about their lives and their respective challenges with other men in a judgement free environment. But you shouldn’t consider this a replacement for a therapeutic or medical intervention if that is what you need.
🖐️ Our community is both free and volunteer run.
We don't want money to be a barrier to getting involved, so the majority of what we do will always be free to attend. As such there is no-one who benefits financially from FF either. Our volunteers are a collection of people who’ve found immense value in what we do and want to further our mission. Please be aware of this when you make demands or place pressures on anyone involved in this group.
📢 Promote yourself without taking the piss.
We want to create a supportive community - in particular taking every opportunity we can to support the endeavours and businesses of our members. So we encourage you to use the community as a platform to share what you do (every 1st of the month is Self Promotion Day). If you've got ideas for involving the community we're all ears!
